Tiger
Woods doesn't have a coach because he sucks at golf, he has one
because he wants to be his best in his game always. It's the same
with Andre Agassi, or Olympic athletes or top executives/business
people. There are many reasons to hire a coach, but the main one
is to have them help you have a better time at the Games you are
playing and Win in the way that's important to you. Here are some
ways you can play with Coaching. You can hire a coach for yourself.
You can hire a coach for someone else. You can hire a coach for
your team or group. Or you can set up your own Play Group. If you're
interested in hiring a Coach to "Play
Your Way to a Great Life and Success", then click
here. If you want to form your own Play
Group then keep reading below.
In the spirit of Play and the definition of
Game (joyous communion), it’s obviously more fun to play
with others. So I’ve
come up with an idea that you can choose to follow or not. It’s
based in setting up a group of people to play a game that you all
agree is worth playing. It could be growing all of your businesses,
it could be personal development, it could be a special project
or a community give back. Whatever you wish. It’s just
the idea that when we’re playing with others, we can often
get much more done than playing alone.
Step 1. Buy The Game of Coaching Book
Step 2. Get a bunch of people
you want to play with together and form a Coaching Play Group
Step 3. Get
books for everyone in the team (reading over each other’s shoulder is a drag and besides,
it’s not as much fun for people if they have to work with
a single player who has the only copy of how the game can be played,
it’s too conTrollish).
Step 4. Generate
a Game worth playing with an experience you’d like to have. Coaching Play Groups
can of course take any form and in putting one together you already
have some questions that will help you determine how you want to
play. By simply working through the Basic Elements listed
in the Game of Coaching book, you and your group can design your
own game and then play it for however long you desire and in whatever
fashion looks good on you.
Step 5. (optional)
Once you put your group together, send me a brief email about
what you’re up to. It
should include a laser-like description of the following:
- What the game is
- How long you’re playing (1 month? 1 year? 1 time?)
- How your game is to be played
- Who the players are (optional)
- Periodic progress reports on how the game is going (monthly
is best)
- How the Game turned out (especially big wins)
What will get done is this. We’ll:
- Collect these updates periodically
- Post some* of them on the monthly Game of Coaching News page
so others can be inspired by your game
*Not all updates will be posted every month,
in the beginning there will obviously be more opportunities than
later. We may just
have to bullet point what’s going on if lots of games get really
jammin’.
